I was born in Vancouver, Canada in 1973. Art became a part of my life early on during a five year stay in Italy where I was first introduced to oil painting and charcoal/pastel drawing at an art school in Florence.  I also learned about traditional perspective in drawing, which I was able to rekindle later in drafting and illustration classes. This education along with extensive exposure to Italian art became a part of my childhood experience.

Forward many years, after growing up in Vancouver, I went to college to focus on art in which there was that familiarity. From 1994 to 1998 I attended art school in Sarasota, Florida, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Illustration. While there, I acquired a love for drawing and painting the human figure, visual problem solving and I also learned many other foundational techniques.

I now live in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and work predominately with oil paint and charcoal to produce paintings and drawings from a home-based studio.  Over the past eighteen years, the desert colours and light, surrounding cultures, people, landscapes, plants and collected objects, as well as an ongoing experimentation with the medium have all inspired the artwork.  I paint what I am drawn to, out of an appreciation of, and a curiosity for, which ultimately stems from a desire for expression and a means of communication.

Since graduating from college I have been included and participated in numerous group art exhibitions and several solo exhibitions in the United States. CV available upon request.,
